‘One glance at Michael Gove, bounding onto the Sunday morning political shows to argue, with utter conviction, the opposite of what he claimed last week, and bingo – here’s Squealer, hard at work in the heart of British Government.‘
March 2021. I’ve just published this new edition of George Orwell’s classic satire on dictatorship, political spin and a revolution betrayed. Alongside the text I’ve added illustrations and written Student Notes and an essay on The Relevance of Animal Farm Today.
The Student Notes give insight into the book’s story structure, parallels with Soviet Russia, themes, style and songs. The essay links the book with the normalisation of lying in political life today, with particular reference to Donald Trump and Michael Gove.
